Just to add a +1 to a closed discussion by the same name, since you mentioned not fixing this because you are busy with new features. You may not realize that: a) it happens all the time, the console gets into that state after 2 minutes of work and stays there until one hits ctrl+L and then again and again b) it is robbing a large number of RStudio users and R developers of their eyesight c) if you don't fix it now, you'd better work on a Braille interface as your user base will mostly blind R developers d) you don't want to be remembered for incapacitating your own user base, do you? e) http://dilbert.com/strips/comic/2009-07-01/ f) In consideration of the above, can you post a download of an older version until this is resolved? Thanks

    Antonio,

I was only able to reproduce this with the following:

    - Open fresh session of RStudio
    - Press enter in console in rapid succession
    - Notice the console "flicker" a little (minor) and the vertical scroll bar jumps

This is a minor bug and likely not noticeable to the majority of users as it only occurs when rapidly entering commands (presumably from the source window). However based on your adverse response, I'd suspect that the problem you are actually experiencing is described here (see the Screen_Recording.mov file):

    http://support.rstudio.org/help/discussions/problems/2247-console-j...

If this is the case, we agree it is a heinous bug, but we cannot reproduce it. If you have any leads as to how to get into this state, we'd greatly appreciate it.

    Josh

P.S. I've re-opened the previous discussion and asked the user to confirm if this was what he was seeing as well.

After seeing the movie, you are exactly right, that's it. I still can't get the find distinctions with the other bug report but that doesn't matter at this point. I will try and figure out what triggers it.

Antonio, does Ctrl+L temporarily stop it only because there is no scrollbar anymore? In other words, when you get the flickering, then hit Ctrl+L, does the flickering come back as soon as there is enough content in the console to make the scrollbar appear?

If you are in a project, can you send us the contents of the .Rproj.user//pcs directory? Or if you are not in a project, then, the contents of the ~/.rstudio-desktop/pcs directory?

If you want you can e-mail them directly to me at joe AT rstudio DOT org. Thanks!

    Antonio,

We were finally able to track this down and get it fixed! It will be available in the next version (0.97) or you can try out the dailies:

    http://www.rstudio.org/download/daily/

If you do try out the dailies, can you confirm that this is fixed?

    Thanks,

    Josh

Thanks but can't repro with the least amount of consistency. Will tell you
if I see it on the new version.

    Antonio,

Sounds good and just let us know if this comes up again once using the new version.

    Thanks,
